Rumor: Devil’s Third Won’t Be Published By Nintendo Of America Due To Quality Issues

July 9, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

For the moment, Itagaki and Valhalla have provided no comment on the situation, possibly because they are still under NDA.

We have a new source that’s flat out stated Nintendo of America is not publishing Devil’s Third.

Rumors about this have been swirling for some time, but now someone with more connections has finally stepped forward about this. Liam Robertson of Unseen64 cites a source within Nintendo of America employee, whom he quotes as saying this:

NOA has lost faith in it. We could have a Disaster situation on our hands.

Disaster there being all caps because the employee is actually alluding to Wii game Disaster Day of Crisis.

Disaster Day of Crisis was a Wii game by Monolith Soft, that did not pass muster with Nintendo of America. As a result, it got published in Japan, Europe, and Australia and New Zealand, but not their biggest region in the US. Of course, ultimately decisions like this boil down to keeping Nintendo’s reputation for quality control intact, and it seems that is the case with Devil’s Third as well.

In the case of Devil’s Third, since it’s still owned by Valhalla Studios, they can still get another publisher to bring the game over the US. In fact, they may already have.

Liam also alleges from game reviewers that the game shows all the signs of a troubled production, including problems with framerate, graphics from two console generations ago, and even issues with the aiming system. For the moment, Itagaki and Valhalla have provided no comment on the situation, possibly because they are still under NDA.

Were you one of the fans looking forward to Devil’s Third coming to North America? Does this make you want to get the game more or less? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
