Overwatch Will Have an FOV Slider, With Consideration to PC Gamers

You requested it, so they’re giving it.

Blizzard Entertainment will not be going in half-cocked with Overwatch, their first foray into the world of first-person shooters. The competitive multiplayer game is set to offer a much-requested graphical option with consideration to a wide range of PC gamers—the FOV slider.

People might joke about PC gamers' obsession with having an FOV slider, but the simple fact is that having a limited field of view, like in console FPSes, can cause players to have a claustrophobic experience and even induce dizziness and nausea, especially since PC games are played on monitors a short distance away from the players themselves.

Having an FOV of 55 just doesn't cut it, and Blizzard knows this, so they'll be adding a slider for players to customize. They revealed this in an interview with GamesOnNet, where they stated:

"We've implemented the FOV slider to provide players with options in consideration of aiming preferences, viewmodels, dizziness, and nausea."

"We are constantly fine-tuning the game, and will remain open to feedback as testing continues."

Overwatch will be entering beta later this year.
