Sony Unveils Splash Blue and Scarlet Red PlayStation 3

Sony has unveiled two new colors for the PlayStation 3, which will be launching in Japan before the end of the year.

Sony's announcement of the PlayStation Vita wasn't the only news to grace us today. The company also unveiled two new colors for the PlayStation 3, Scarlet Red and Splash Blue. Both devices were unveiled prior to the official opening of the Tokyo Games Show.

Loaded with 320GB of space, both consoles, which come in blue and red, also come with similarly colored Dual Shock 3 controllers. They are expected to go on sale for $389 when released in Japan on November 17. The hasn't been any word on whether Sony plans to release the devices overseas as of yet.

The new “Splash Blue” PS3 system comes in a fresh metallic blue color that resembles a splashing water or the ocean while the “Scarlet Red” PS3 comes in a vibrant metallic red color that resembles a glaring sun or a flame. Matching perfectly with the PS3 system, DUALSHOCK®3 Wireless Controller included in the bundle will also come in these special colors.
