Bethesda Teases Lonesome Road DLC with a Holotape Recording

September 13, 2011 by Josh Harmon

Bethesda has posted another tease for next week’s Fallout: New Vegas story DLC, Lonesome Road.

With just one week left until the release of Lonesome Road, the fourth and final story DLC for Fallout: New Vegas, Bethesda has decided to tease fans with a new snippet of audio from one of the add-on's holotapes. In a post on the official Bethesda blog, Obsidian's Chris Avellone presents the clip as evidence of the unique approach to narrative that New Vegas' DLC has taken.

Whereas Fallout 3's DLC presented relatively isolated experiences, New Vegas upped the ante by making each pack part of a larger story arc. The ligature throughout it all is Ulysses, the enigmatic courier who turned down the job that nearly got you killed at the start of the game. Lonesome Road sees you following Ulysses' trail into the Divide, a storm-wrecked version of California's Death Valley. Along the way, you'll discover the holotapes he's left behind, allowing you to gradually piece together his story and find a conclusion for your own.

The new audio clip is from one such tape, detailing how Ulysses came to explore the Big MT facilities where July's Old World Blues DLC took place. It's a quick tease, but one that's bound to get your heart pumping if you're a fan of Fallout (or foreboding monologues, for that matter). Give it a listen.

Lonesome Road is set to release next Tuesday, September 20, on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
