Indie Developer Publishes Unreleased DS Game Soundtrack

July 3, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Can you guess what the game was supposed to be?

Independent game developer Ian Stocker (Escape Goat, Soulcaster) has published the full soundtrack on YouTube today of a Nintendo DS game he composed in August 2009.

Due to a non-disclosure agreement, Stocker is unable to say what the game was that he was working on; only that it was for the Nintendo DS and was cancelled for reasons unknown to him.

“This was one of the last full-sized contract gigs I had before switching full time to indie development,” the video’s description reads on YouTube. “Sadly, the project was canceled late in development (for reasons unknown to me), so it never saw the light of day. I think it represents some of my better work on the Nintendo handhelds, so I wanted to post it so others can finally hear it.”

There are 16 tracks in total, with titles like “Grid Games,” “Transporter,” “The Moon,” “Beach Boogie 1, 2, and 3,” “Romance, and “Farewell.”

Stocker entered the game development business solely as a musician/sound designer where he worked on over 40 titles for the Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and Nintendo DS between 2002 and 2010. Some of his audio credits include Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, The Sims 2, Digimon Racing, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, and many more. He now is a full-time independent developer, having released Escape Goat and Soulcaster, as well as their sequels.

What do you think this soundtrack was intended for? Let us know in the comments below!
