NBA 2K16: Spike Lee Is This Closely Involved In The Game

July 1, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

This may surprises Lee’s film watching audience, who knows he is also at work on Chiraq.

Are you wondering how closely involved Spike Lee is to the production of NBA 2K16? 2K gave us a very intimate look on Instagram.

In this brief video, you can see Spike giving instructions to the motion capture actors. As you can see, Spike took to these unfamiliar shores immediately, and already looks like a seasoned game producer.

Of course, basketball itself is not unfamiliar territory for Spike, who produced and directed the documentary Kobe Doin’ Work, and worked with Michael Jordan in a series of iconic commercials for Nike. Spike also worked with Denzel Washington and real life NBA player Ray Allen on He Got Game, a fictional sports drama film.

If anything, Spike has been criticized for overindulging himself when bringing basketball to the big screen, but in the case of NBA 2K16, that approach could fit quite well. The NBA 2K16 games are about the grandiose spectacle of basketball, and that’s something Spike will certainly be eager to recreate. Spike has a very visual way of storytelling, and with the quality 2K Sports brings to their graphics, there’s a lot of potential for something amazing.

In any case, this may have surprised Lee's film watching audience, who knows he is also at work in musical comedy Chiraq, but it's just like Lee to be bouncing off several projects at once.

What do you hope Spike will bring to NBA 2K16? Share your thoughts with us in the comments. NBA 2K16 will be coming in September 29 to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
