Terraria 1.3 Launches Today, Improves Multiplayer Connectivity

June 30, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Update brings much-requested multiplayer simplification.

The 1.3 update to Terraria was released today on PC and brings with it new content, enhancements to multiplayer, and more.

Included in the update are new sprites, backgrounds, features, and content. Some of the updates include support for Steam Cloud saving, joining multiplayer games through Steam, an overhaul of the game’s dye system, and more. To read the full list of changes in Terraria 1.3, check out the complete changelog here.

One of the most-requested features fans have wanted in Terraria are improvements (re: simplification) of how to play multiplayer with other players. Writing on the game’s official website, developer Re-Logic writes:

Perhaps most exciting to the team are the ways in which Terraria 1.3 streamlines the multiplayer experience. Gone are the days of port-forwarding and endless IP sharing for anyone seeking to connect quickly with their friends for an ore-hunting session or to team of up that tough boss fight. We have always felt Terraria was best with a buddy (or ten) – so if you haven't yet, now is an opportune time to try out multiplayer! (Do note that dedicated servers will still need to use the standalone server software, which you can download HERE).

Re-Logic is also running a sale on Terraria for two days (today and tomorrow) for 25% off on Steam and GOG.com.
