Italian developers Kunos Simulazioni have finally revealed the next-gen release date for Assetto Corsa Competizione. The sportscar racing simulation will launch later this month on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Check out the new release date trailer below which features PS5 gameplay of the updated title.
The popular racing game was first available to gamers in 2019 for PC only, making its way to PS4 and Xbox One in June 2020. Assetto Corsa Competizione focuses on GT3 and GT4 cars and is an official simulation of the 2018 and 2019 Blancpain GT Series season Sprint and Endurance Cups, as well as the Total 24 Hours Spa.
This game will be the first in the series to make get a next-gen rerelease. Its predecessor, Assetto Corsa launched on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, originally releasing for PC only in 2014 and going to consoles in 2016. Assetto Corsa Competizione seemed to follow a similar path. The previous game was designed with an emphasis on a realistic racing experience, supporting extensive customization and moddabiltiy. Developers took this even further with the next installment to the series.
Assetto Corsa Competizione was first announced in February 2018 with Steam gamers getting early access to the racing title that summer. The game allows players to race cars against either an AI or other players online. An offline career mode is also part of the game, as well as customer championships, races, and special events. Some of the session types include Free Practice, Hot Lap, Superpole, Hot Stint, Quick Race, Sprint Race Weekend, and Endurance Race Weekend.
Get ready to enjoy the next-gen release of Assetto Corsa Competizione on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S this month on February 22. The hyper-realistic racing game should be a treat with upgraded graphics and gameplay. The last-gen version is also available on Xbox One and PS4.
