Fallout 4 Will Not Offer Paid Mods

Todd Howard of Bethesda says that the company has no plans to reintroduce the paid mod system it unveiled and later retracted on Steam for Fallout 4. The paid mod scheme that was introduced by Bethesda and Valve Software for Skyrim in April, but was quickly retracted by the companies following a massive outcry from players who didn't take well to the program.

Bethesda and Valve offered refunds to anyone who had previously purchased a mod through the system and pulled it offline. Valve had hoped to create paid modding communities for DayZ, Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Killing Floor 2.

Speaking to Spiegel Online, a German gaming publication, Todd Howard explained that the company had no plans to introduce such a system for Fallout 4 when asked what Bethesda's plans were.

Fallout 4 will have full modding support for the PC through the Creation Kit. Mods created for the game will also be available on the Xbox One, with plans to support the PlayStation 4.

Fallout 4 comes out on November 10 for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
