Final Fantasy VII Remake: Players Can Look Forward to Cloud in a Dress

June 19, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Final Fantasy VII’s remake will have lighthearted elements.

Tetsuya Nomura, the talent behind some of the Final Fantasy series most iconic character designs and the character designer for the original Fantasy Fantasy VII and the upcoming remake has assured fans that they'll be able to look forward to lighthearted elements in the game's high-definition, new-gen remake.

Speaking to Eurogamer, the developer indicated that players will be able to look forward to re-experiencing some of the game's more lighthearted moments, like the time Cloud had to collect various articles of clothing to audition as the girl who will spend the night with Don Carneo in an attempt to rescue Tifa.

"Please look forward to it," said Nomura when asked whether players would once again see Cloud in a dress.

Elsewhere in the short interview, Nomura explained why the remake wasn't announced earlier.

"When we announced the HD port, the PC port on the PS4, we weren't sure when we wanted to announce the remake," Nomura said. "The production was underway then, so there's no real connection between the timing of the two FF7s coming to PS4. We've announced several different titles coming to the PlayStation 4 like World of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts 3."

Nomura says that he hopes the remake will push Japanese gamers towards adopting the PlayStation 4 as their gaming platform of choice.

"There’s more and more titles being introduced for the platform, and we’re hoping that announcing the remake of Final Fantasy VII, it’ll give a boost to people wanting to buy this current generation of console. If we announced the remake after all those titles have been sold, it wouldn’t have created such an impact, so that’s why we decided on this timing. We wanted to reassure players that PlayStation 4 is coming out with great titles including Final Fantasy VII. That’s why we decided to announce the remake."

There is no release date for the game.
