Death Stranding Director’s Cut Coming to PC in March

January 27, 2022 by Carley Garcia

The game will boast higher frame rates and ultrawide monitor support.

After rumors began swirling earlier this month, Death Stranding Director’s Cut has been officially announced for the PC. The Kojima Productions title will be released on March 30 on both Steam and the Epic Games Store and will retail for $39.99. Those who own the original version will be able to upgrade to the Director’s Cut for only $9.99 by purchasing it through either storefront. To upgrade, players should be sure that they have the base game already installed. (At the moment, Death Stranding is 70% off on Steam as part of their Lunar New Year Sale, so now might be a good time to grab it.)

The PC version of the game will be one of the first titles to take full advantage of Intel’s new XeSS graphics upscaling technology, providing players with much higher frame rates. Death Stranding Director’s Cut for PC will have ultrawide monitor support and a swanky new photo mode.

Earlier this month, Hideo Kojima took to Twitter to discuss his upcoming plans. “Although 2021 was still a very difficult year for us, we managed to deliver the release of Death Stranding Director’s Cut for PS5 safely even in this COVID situation while we were solemnly preparing and experimenting with new titles,” he said. “This year, I’m going to start a new work in earnest and move to the next level of experimentation with a radical project. I’m also hoping to get the video team going. And I may start doing something like a radio project?”

In late 2020, Kojima Productions announced that it was currently seeking applications for a number of positions in its Tokyo studio. In July, Hideo Kojima and Microsoft reached an agreement to “work out the details” for a new Xbox game.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut will release for PC on March 30, 2022 for $39.99. Those who own the original version will be able to upgrade for $9.99 on either Steam or the Epic Games Store.
