Forza Horizon 5 Adding Four New Chinese Cars

January 27, 2022 by Carley Garcia

The game is the first in the series to add full Mandarin voice localization.

Forza Horizon 5 continues to speed past the competition–just this week, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed that the racing game has amassed over 18 million players. The game’s fourth major update is just around the corner, and the developer is celebrating the Year of the Tiger with four Chinese-manufactured cars being added to the title. These have never been seen in a Forza game before, and are also being added to highlight the first full Mandarin voice localization in the franchise. Forza is a top-seller in China, and this is a well-placed nod to those fans.

According to Horizon 5‘s official Chinese website, the four cars being added are the NIO EP9, Wuling Sunshine, MG 3, and MG XPower SVR. In a post on Twitter, Chinese game analyst Daniel Ahmad highlighted the minivan-like Sunshine as a particularly interesting addition to the game. “It was the best-selling car in China at one point, and there is a meme around it being a ‘super car’ across the country,” he said.

Most of these cars will be available as seasonal unlocks as players work their way through Season 4. The MG XPower SV-R will be exclusively available for Car Pass owners when it releases on February 10.

These Chinese cars aren’t the only new rides coming in Season 4. The Volkswagen Golf R, Mazda 323 GT-R, and Porsche 911 Sport Classic will be making appearances as well. Season 4 will also introduce the Horizon World Cup, a large-scale competition asking players to use vehicles from specific countries as they ride towards the finish line. This new content will be coming out progressively over the course of Season 4, rather than all at once.

Forza Horizon 5 is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The title celebrated the largest first week in both Xbox and Game Pass history, attracting over 4.5 million players in its first seven days. The first of two expansion packs is expected to release in June 2022.
