AMD And Nvidia GPU Prices Are Finally Beginning Decline

January 24, 2022 by Viren

It’s been a long while since graphic cards have been available for their MSRP. Ever since the semiconductor shortage, the GPU industry as well as many others has faced great difficulty. It has been over a year since it become almost impossible to find a graphics card at a fair price.

After more than a year of overpriced graphics cards, AMD Radeon RX 6000 and GeForce RTX 30 prices are declining. It is the second time this month that this trend has been observed. GeForce RTX 30 cards dropped from 185% of the cost to 177%. It is no doubt that the cards are still 77% more overpriced than they should be. On the other hand, AMD card prices have reduced from 178% to 167%, which is a retail price increase over the official MSRP.

While many speculate the price drop is the result of the crypto coin crash that took place last week, that is not the case. It will take around a week or two to see the changes in the prices due to the crash.

On a different note, AMD and NVIDIA have finally launched entry-level GPUs such as Radeon RX 6500XT and GeForce RTX 3050. The Radeon RX 6500XT is currently available and the RTX 3050 will be launching this Thursday.

NVIDIA has recently announced that they have increased prices for the Founders Edition in Europe. With that news still being fresh, it is a strong possibility that this price drop was calculated taking that under consideration.
