PES 2016’s cover star has been revealed; standout player Neymar Jr.
Full name Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, Neymar is one of the top active players in the entire sport. He currently plays for FC Barcelona, as well as the Brazilian national team. Not coincidentally, FC Barcelona are at a career high, having just completed the Champions League Treble, beating Juventus.
Neymar shared this message for the announcement:
This is a real honour for me to be cover star for PES 2016. The series has long been praised for its sheer level of control and utter realism and I am delighted to be working with such a talented team as Konami. I am fascinated by the huge amount of work involved in putting together the game and ensuring the world’s top players look and play just like the real things, and cannot wait to see myself in action as soon as possible.
The official teaser trailer for PES 2016 has also leaked on YouTube, which you can see above. Neymar’s likeness is particularly striking and impressive, and it’s all thanks to their use of the impressive FOX Engine. The trailer confirms a full reveal coming this June 12.
This is presumably the first Pro Evolution Soccer game that will be released with monetization, following Konami’s announcement that they would be using mobile strategies and following market trends to determine how they would release content.
