Mario Sports Game Rumored To Be In Development

January 17, 2022 by Dennis Patrick

Are we getting a sequel to Super Mario Strikers?

Super Mario games are always popping up into the marketplace. For decades, fans have been enjoying the franchise, and Nintendo is not slowing down. There are plenty of video game rumors circulating online regarding what is coming out. While it’s only a rumor, one of the big notable titles that Nintendo fans might have interested in is Mario. If this rumor proves to be real, then we might see a Mario sports game hit the marketplace sometime soon.

The rumor comes from Zippo, who recently posted on their blog about 2022 predictions and information that they have heard. According to their sources, it looks like there might be a new sports game coming out for Mario. Of course, we have sports titles already available on the Nintendo Switch platform. However, this new sports title might give players a sequel to a long-beloved franchise that came out back on the Nintendo GameCube. I’m, of course, referring to Super Mario Strikers.

Super Mario Strikers was a soccer video game centered around different Mario characters. It was a huge hit, and fans could potentially be getting a new thrilling installment. Unfortunately, there’s nothing known quite yet outside of the game being handled by Bandai Namco. We’re not sure if this is a new installment to Super Mario Strikers or potentially a new sports game in general. After all, we could be seeing anything outside of golf and tennis. Both already have games available on the Nintendo Switch platform, and it’s not likely to receive a sequel installment already.

For now, all we can do is wait and see just what this mysterious Nintendo Mario sports game might end up being. Whether it’s a new installment to a past big hit or potentially a brand new sports game that has yet to be adapted for the Mario franchise. Whatever the case ends up being, we likely won’t hear anything until a new Nintendo Direct comes out.
