No More Random Side Quests in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

June 8, 2015 by Vanessa Lopa

Looks like Ubisoft is listening to players’ feedback about the frustrating random side quests.

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicateis all about change, it would seem. It’s the first main title in the Assassin’s Creed series that lets you play as a woman, they’ve dropped multiplayer in favor of improving the single player experience, and they’ve put in a new melee combat system with some gang warfare.

All of these changes are pointing toward a better player experience, and it seems they’re fixing one more thing that players have been unhappy about: random side quests. Past AC titles’ side quests have run the whole gamut, from eavesdropping to solving murders on the streets, and many of these have left players bored or frustrated. Side quests got so repetitive that they quickly lost their charm and some players just gave up on them.

AC:S director Marc-Alexis CoÌ‚té revealed in the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine that there will be no more random side quests; each quest will have something to contribute towards the story and help to push it forward. They’ve designed these tasks to reflect the fight for power in each of the seven districts of London.

We’re hoping that Ubisoft will keep their word, and that they are indeed working towards improving the players’ experience. It looks like they’re listening to players’ feedback here, and we can probably look forward to a new Assassin’s Creed title that prioritizes quality far more than quantity in terms of side quests.

Would you be willing to give Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate a shot? It’s set for release on October 23 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with a possibly later release date for PC. If you want to try your hands on the game early, you could check if Assassin’s Creed Syndicate: The Tour will be stopping by your city.
