Payday 2: Crimewave Edition Will Feel Completely Different From Previous Console Versions

June 8, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Starbreeze has also confirmed, unfortunately, that they will no longer be updating those previous versions.

Are you a fan of Payday 2? Developer Starbreeze Studios hopes you will be getting Payday 2: Crimewave Edition. In fact, they say that it’s going to feel completely different.

This version of the game is getting a revamp from the ground up, but more importantly, it will be easier to update, thanks to the architecture of the consoles it will be releasing on, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. As Starbreeze put it, Crimewave Edition is the base game getting 16 months more development work.

Unfotunately for owners of Payday 2 from PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Starbreeze will no longer support updates on those consoles.

The new DLC characters, Clover, Dragan, John Wick, as well as Old Hoxton, will be added into the package. On top of that, there will be an improved skill system as well as more skills, weapons, masks, heists, basically, any type of content you can think of has been increased.

Of course, this version will also improve on the graphics from the previous console generation, bringing it more in line with what higher spec PCs are capable of.  Among promised imrpovements are coming to framerate and texture quality.

Payday 2: Crimewave Edition will be releasing on June 16 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
