Tom Clancy’s The Division: New York Collapse is Available for Pre-order

June 1, 2015 by Vanessa Lopa

It’s a book, not DLC. Sorry to disappoint you.

Tom Clancy’s The Division has been delayed quite a bit, originally slated for release in 2014, then getting pushed back to 2015, and finally, to the first quarter of 2016. There are times when the hype train looks like it’s starting to lose steam, but they manage to pick it back up again. Now there are speculations that there’ll be a playable beta by the last quarter of 2015, and Ubisoft just keeps us hanging on.

Now Amazon has put up a listing for Tom Clancy’s The Division: New York Collapse, a “discarded survivalist field guide” that appears meant to be a companion to the game. In it you follow the footsteps of a female survivor as you consult both her handwritten account and the removable artifacts included with the book, like a map and a used transit card, on her quest to find out why New York City fell. Deciphering her clues will lead you to the conspiracy at the heart of the game.

Not a whole lot of people are happy about the delay, but Ubisoft is promising something great. The delay means they’re committed to paying more attention to this project, even if it takes longer. We saw dramatically-improved, more dynamic environments when progress was shown in 2014, and we got to see the ECHO this year. It’s shaping up to be a solid, immersive game, and having a companion guide will probably add more dimension to it. While in the game, we play as Agents, but the point of view of a civilian could make us aware of anything we might miss.

If you’re interested in getting Tom Clancy’s The Division: New York Collapse, it’s available for pre-order and scheduled for release on March 1, 2016, roughly around the time that we’re expecting Tom Clancy’s The Division to drop.
