Dead Space Remake Could Be An Open World Experience

December 16, 2021 by Dennis Patrick

A new remake may expand on the IP in a big way.

Dead Space is a massively popular survival horror video game. Set in the distant future, players battle hostile alien creatures throughout three mainline installments. Then, unfortunately, the game franchise came to a halt. After Dead Space 3, the video game IP became dormant, leaving fans waiting on a new release. Fortunately for fans waiting on the IP to get its big revival, a remake is inbound.

The video game development studio behind the upcoming is EA Motive who you might remember from their previous game, Star Wars Squadrons. It was unveiled this year where we are getting a remake for the first game, which has a few fans excited. Out of speculation this could have come out because of the success Capcom has had with their remakes for the Resident Evil franchise. Unfortunately, details have been relatively scarce about what we can expect from the upcoming remake.

Instead, the studio has been kept tight-lipped about the upcoming project. We have been shown some slight technical footage. But, we’re likely not going to see new footage until sometime in 2022. Fortunately, some new information is circling around online, thanks to a job posting. The job in particular is for a narrative director. While the description doesn’t tell us what game the position is for, it does suggest that it will be an open-world experience.

With this new posting out, it’s left fans wondering just how different the new experience will end up being. The developers have suggested this would be a rather closely developed remake of the original game in the past. However, it was also noted that this remake would attempt to expand the game. So perhaps the developers will make the installment open to explore rather than being a linear experience. For now, it looks like we’ll hear more about this remake next year as it’s slated to launch towards the end of 2022.
