Back 4 Blood Update Adds Christmas Event, Offline Campaign

December 15, 2021 by Carley Garcia

This bleak scenery could use some glittering decorations.

Those wanting an update for Back 4 Blood only have one day to wait, and it’s about to pack a wallop. Turtle Rock Studios has just confirmed that the new addition to the title will include a brand-new campaign mode, a holiday seasonal event, supply lines, and plenty more. In a post made last month, the development team shared a roadmap for the zombie shooter, highlighting a number of updates through 2022. This December update will be the first major patch and will add the first hefty pieces of new content.

While originally released as a multiplayer-only experience, Back 4 Blood will now have an offline campaign mode with progression. This means no more queues and an exciting solo experience will finally be on the table for those feeling a little antisocial. Players will also be able to spend Supply Points at new Supply Lines named Roving Merchants, complete with new unlocks. New cards will include the belt clip, toolbelts, and utility belt, and each will grant an inventory buff. A completely new card type, ‘Burn Cards,’ will be available through the Roving Merchants Supply Lines, and can be played in safe rooms to gain temporary effects like currency boosts, instant healing, increased resistance, and more.

The new seasonal event will add plenty of festive decorations to Fort Hope and the Firing Range, and players will be able to grab holiday skins, emblems, weapon skins, and sprays. On the road ahead, new updates coming in 2022 will add new difficulties, quality-of-life improvements, new player cards, and plenty more. Three expansions are also in the works, with the first titled Tunnels of Terror.

Back 4 Blood was released for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 12, 2021. Last month, the development team at Turtle Rock Studios admitted that the title is currently ‘too difficult,’ and said that they are working on striking the best balance for the largest amount of players.
