GTA V Story DLC: Empty Promise?

May 19, 2015 by Vanessa Lopa

Rockstar has been teasing us with bits and pieces of “future DLC” since 2013, but now Take Two – their parent company – is backpedaling so hard. These two need to get their story straight and tell us if we’re waiting for nothing at all.

In the past, we’ve talked about the rumored DLC for GTA V. Everything from additional arena maps, a comedy club, assassination missions, and even zombies have been thrown into the mix. Some had pretty solid evidence to back it up, and with Rockstar’s reputation of putting out DLC to extend a game’s life, fans were pretty hopeful.

It’s not like they’re having trouble selling GTA V. In fact, they’ve already sold-in nearly 52 million copies of the game, a notable increase since the last report in early February. Regardless, we love DLC. It’s like getting a note from the developers that says “Hey, we’ve got something extra for you.”

Sometimes it comes at a cost, but most of the time, we don’t mind. We will wait excitedly for nearly anything. Some of you might even recall how Rockstar teased some Story Mode updates, back in November 2013. Throughout 2014, they also teased Flight School Missions and holiday-themed updates, but they left us hanging.

Delays in release of DLC are not uncommon, but this no longer seems to  be a delay. Take Two Interactive – parent company of Rockstar – is outright denying that there were ever talks of story-based DLC for GTA V. Take Two’s statement: “We leave it to Rockstar Games to share information about their games when they’re ready.”

So what’s really going on here? Take Two and Rockstar really need to get their story straight, because right now, it sounds like a big NO to that DLC that they’ve been promising for years.
