Konami has been caught red handed once again, coercing a game journalist to delete references ot Hideo Kojima as creator of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
Actually, the full context behind this involves the end of each game chapter. There are credits at the end of each finished chapter. This means, for every chapter that you play, you can see Kojima be credited as creator over and over again.
Konami did not deny that this was added to the game. However, when they caught wind this was spreading around, they contacted the said journalist (Italian Antonio Fucito) and convinced him to remove tweets talking about this. He had done so in his native language, and insists the information is factually correct.
Of course, this time Konami seems to have invited the Barbara Streisand effect. If this information might have passed through most people unawares, now the story of Konami attempting to censor it has drawn more attention and visibility to it.
Of course, we had been considering the possibility that Konami could eliminate any mention of Kojima in the game completely. Konami seemed to have backed off on any attempts to excise Kojima’s name from the project until now.
Would you demand Konami keep Kojima’s name on this game? Or would you say Kojima is better off separating from Kojima completely after this game, so he may as well abide this? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
