Halo 5 Guardians Devt Has ‘Long Way To Go’, No Collectible Statues Made Yet

May 15, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

It’s possible 343 is working on game optimization, in light of DirectX 12.

We have some new details on the progress of development for Halo 5 Guardians, as well as details on a key collectible.

On a listing for the collector’s edition, fans found out that one of the available collectibles bundled in is a Spartan Locke statue. When asked by a fan, 343 head Josh Holmes clarified that no pictures of the statue have been released yet. What this means is that the source (Gamestop Italy) used a placeholder image for the Spartan Locke statue. If there will be a Spartan Locke statue, it will likely look completely different.

Fans have also been eager to verify just how far along the single player campaign component of the game. When asked if the game is close to gold, Holmes clarifies they still have a long way to go.

If Holmes claims they still have a lot of work to do in the game, it must be taken as a sign that the rumors may not match reality. It’s possible that the campaign already looks close to finished for beta testers, but Microsoft is working on optimization.

Here’s why I’m thinking 343 is working on optimization: DirectX 12. Halo 5 Guardians may not necessarily be going to Windows. However, Microsoft has touted performance improvements from using the API. If nothing, this may give Halo fans hope the wait for the next big game will well be worth it.

Halo 5 Guardians will be released exclusively on Xbox One on October 27.
