Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition Brings All New Features

May 15, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

The enhanced edition of Divinity: Original Sin sounds promising.

Larian Studios has announced on Kickstarter that Divinity: Original Sin is getting an all new version that's set for a standalone release. It's not just "some patch or minor content update," says the studio, which intends to release Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It's also slated for SteamOS, Mac, and Linux.

The new version of the game will come with local co-op, fully voiced characters, all new story content, an overhaul of the game's crafting system, and a reworked story complete with a new ending.

Designed to be played with both keyboard and mouse as well as the controller, Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition will release at the end of 2015 and will be offered for free to anyone who already owns the existing game on Steam.

“Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition is a completely separate game: not an update to Divinity: Original Sin,” writes Larian. “Both games will remain available on PC and Mac, and it is important to note that they are totally different entities, so if you've already bought Original Sin you'll see separate listings for Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition in your Steam Library.

"This means that saved games can't be transferred from Divinity: Original Sin to the Enhanced Edition. This is largely because of the technical changes we've made to how the game looks and feels, but the story has also been rewritten so heavily that most saved games would no longer be compatible with the plot.”

Players on the PC will require a 64-bit system and a graphics card with DX11 support for the all new graphics sported by the game.
