Ubisoft Drops PS3 and Xbox 360 Except for Just Dance

May 13, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Publisher’s stance on Wii U unclear.

Ubisoft has announced that it will no longer be releasing games for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, with the exception of popular casual rhythm franchise Just Dance.

Eurogamer reports that the company confirmed their plans during a financial call with investors last night. From now on, Ubisoft intends to focus on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

In 2014 Ubisoft released Assassin's Creed Rogue for PS3 and Xbox 360 (it came to PC earlier this year) and Assassin's Creed Unity for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This year, Assassin's Creed Syndicate is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One only. 2015 will be the first years since the 2008 without a major Assassin's Creed game on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Far Cry 4, launched last November, was a cross-gen game available on both console generations.

Ubisoft did not provide an update with regard to its intentions towards Wii U development. CEO Yves Guillemot previously said Watch Dogs was the company's last "mature" game to be released on the platform.

It's likely that Just Dance support will continue on Wii U into the future, but additional support beyond that seems unlikely.
