The Division Pushed to 2016, AAA Ubisoft Game to be Revealed in Autumn

May 12, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Ubisoft says delay is due to bid to give developers extra time to realise their creative vision.

Tom Clancy's The Division has officially been delayed to the fourth quarter of the financial year, and will now be released at some point between January 1st, 2016 and March 31st, 2016.

The Division was originally due for release in 2014 before being pushed back to this year and now 2016.

"We believe we have a great title in our hands and we are giving additional time to our developers to fully fulfill their creative vision," Ubisoft commented in a statement provided to VideoGamer. "This decision proved right on WD [Watch Dogs] which clearly outperformed the targets we had set up for its original FY14 launch more than compensating for the extra development costs incurred."

The publisher will also be announcing a new AAA game this Autumn, Ubisoft has confirmed.

Ubisoft revealed the news in their latest financial report, "the upcoming releases of the latest opuses of the Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance franchises as well as Tom Clancy's The Division, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, and another triple-A title that has not yet been announced."

While you might normally expect such an announcement to be made at E3, Sony recently announced that it would not be hosting a gamescom press conference this year and will instead be holding a media briefing at the Paris Games Week event in October. While nothing has been confirmed, it's possible that is when Ubisoft will reveal the new game.
