The 101 shares new details on early roster reveals for WWE 2K16, including one legendary announcer. You can subscribe to him on Youtube here.
So, Zack Ryder, Sasha Banks, and Rosa Mendez have each confirmed their presence in the game via Twitter. We also know from previous teases that Rusev and Randy Orton will be definitely part of the roster. However, it is this one legendary announcer that we feel takes the cake among the additions to 2K16.
Jim Ross, veteran wrestling announcer and commentator, talked directly with 2K Sports, and is now on board for this game. Ross says that the game’s single player is ‘extremely provocative’ and ‘has my attention already.’
Ross talking to 2K for this is significant, as he has no longer been with the WWE since his contract expired on July 24, 2014. Prior to this, Ross has been one of the figureheads of the wrestling promotion, a former executive and talent relations manager on top of his public presence.
Ross is most famous to fans today for his work in the Attitude era in the late ‘90s to early ‘00s, introducing many a wrestling fan to Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, and Mankind. He had his start in NWA/WCW, and was even commentator for Atlanta Falcons for one season in 1992.
Ross is in his 60s now, and deals with Bell’s Palsy. However, he has proven he is still a sharp, insightful, and folksy entertaining commentator, working with Chael Sonnen for the Battlegrounds one night MMA PPV, and a month after, IWGP’s Wrestle Kingdom 9 with Matt Striker.
