Battlefield 2042 PC Trailer Released, Ray Tracing Announced

November 1, 2021 by Carley Garcia

The title will also support Nvidia DLSS and Nvidia Reflex.

On Friday, a new trailer showed off three launch-day maps for Battlefield 2042, ready to launch on November 19. Today, news on the title continues, as EA has released a new video showcasing how the new game will look on the PC. Nvidia has partnered with the company for the PC release of the highly-anticipated shooter, and with that partnership comes DLSS and ray-tracing capabilities. Nvidia Reflex also promises to reduce render latency and make aiming with the mouse much more responsive.

Check out the Battlefield 2042 PC trailer here:

In a statement, Nvidia detailed the experience gamers can expect when they download the game on PC. “PC gamers will get a Battlefield 2042 experience like no other, because a PC allows you to enjoy higher detail levels, uncapped frame rates, and gameplay enhanced by variable refresh rate G-SYNC monitors, TVs, and displays. Graphics on a PC are next-level with ray-traced ambient occlusion (available only on PC), and GeForce RTX-based PCs have dedicated RT cores to deliver excellent ray tracing performance.” The trailer shows off the visual benefits of DLS AI upscaling and ambient occlusion, and the title will also have an unlocked frame rate on PC. The game’s extreme weather will benefit from these upgrades, and for those without an Nvidia RTX series card, I’ll pray that you can find one before launch day.

Without a standard single-player mode, Battlefield 2042 will rely entirely on multi-player action. Each map will support 128 players, and the title will come with Battlefield Portal. As DICE has explained, the Portal is a new community-driven platform where players can alter the rules of engagement by creating, sharing, and discovering unexpected battles from the series.

Battlefield 2042 is scheduled to be released on November 19, 2021, on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Those buying the digital standard edition of Battlefield 2042 on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will be eligible for a free new-gen upgrade.
