D4 PC Details Revealed, Swery Says PC Success Will Determine Franchise’s Future

More details about D4’s upcoming PC release have come up, on both their own site and a new interview.

On this changes page, Access games revealed that all Kinect controls have been replicated and replaced with mouse controls. The way this has been worded, PC gamers who happen to have Kinect for PC won’t be able to use it for the game. Voice controls have also been removed, and the UI has been adjusted. You can still play the game with an XInput controller, including an Xbox 360 controller.

On top of this, all the DLC has been bundled in for free, load times have been reduced, the game can now run in full 60 FPS, and PC unique options have been added in, including resolution, Vsync, and dynamic shadows.

Swery65 was forthcoming in an interview with Jim Sterling regarding the port. Swery is genuinely disappointed fans did not want to try the game with Kinect, but he feels his ideas about sensory replication and synchronization hold true without it.

He also wants to ensure the PC version will be a success. From there, Swery hopes to expand D4 into a multimedia franchise, encompassing books, TV, animation, and for this reason Access is working hard on the PC port.

D4’s PC sales will certainly affect the game’s future, including upcoming new features, the depth and length of future episodes, and game quality. If you were holding out for a PS4 port, it’s not completely impossible, but Swery says it’s as likely as Microsoft and Sony merging.
