Call of Duty Black Ops 3’s Campaign Allows You to Choose Gender

April 27, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Men and women will be fully voiced and customisable with choice reflected in cutscenes.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be the first game in the series which allows players to choose the gender of their character in campaign.

Developer Treyarch adds a range of customisation options to the Call of Duty formula which expands the game's campaign of up to four players in co-op.

You'll be able to alter the appearance, weapons, abilities, and gender of your player character.

“It’s not just a female head on a male body. It’s a different set of animations for the entire game,” Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia told Engadget.

Both men and women characters are fully voiced and your choice will be reflected in cutscenes, while certain NPC interactions while change depending on your character's gender.

“We knew we were going to do fully unique male, fully unique female for all scenes and all the customization that goes for both. Thank God for Blu-ray, right?” campaign director and senior executive producer Jason Blundell added.

It looks like it's going to be a good year for representation in shooters, following confirmation that Star Wars Battlefront will feature women Stormtroopers.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III launched on November 6th, 2015 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
