Star Wars Battlefront 3 2015 Official Producer Trailer: Graphics, Co-op, DLC & Battlefront Missions

April 26, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

The PC version is getting an amazing technical exclusive; as it launches Dolby Atmos for video games.

We have some new details on Star Wars Battlefront 3, courtesy a new interview with one of DICE's devs. This interview is shared to us by StarWarsHQ, whom you can subscribe to on YouTube here.

DICE was given access to LucasFilm's archives, where they were able to photoscan models and props, and obtain the original soundbytes. DICE used photogrammetry to capture objects from every angle. This, along with PBR and the Frostbite engine, enabled DICE for uncannily accurate recreations of the Star Wars lore.

They were also able to visit the locations the original filmmakers used. Among the locations DICE recreated as a result of this work was Sullust. Sullust also happens to be making its video game debut with Star Wars Battlefront 3.

The PC version is getting an amazing technical exclusive; Star Wars Battlefront 3 will launch Dolby Atmos for games. As such, it's PC only because the consoles were literally not made to handle it yet. Atmos creates a 360 degree bubble of audio for total immersion.

The Partner system allows players to coordinate and see their partner via mini-map. You can use the system to make a premier esports tag team, or if you have a beginner friend, share to him or her content you have unlocked but they haven't. You will also be able to respawn your partner.

Lastly, DICE shared an interesting sentiment about bringing split-screen to Star Wars Battlefront 3 for players who don't have the internet connections the industry has relied on for their online games thus far.

Star Wars Battlefront 3 will be releasing on November 17, 2015, in North America and November 20, 2015, in the UK for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
