Still not sold on Guitar Hero Live? Activision wants you to. They arranged for several live events for fans to demo the game yesterday, with more likely to be coming in the near future.
Activision brought a demo of the game to Best Buy Union Square and Toys “R” Us Times Square in New York, and Best Buy in Torrance, CA. The demo only features three songs, but it does seem that people who did get a chance to try it were won over by the new control scheme.
The highlight of the demo was certainly the redesigned controller, which makes a renewed effort to look more realistic than other guitar controllers. The six button layout eschews colors for an experience that feels closer to the actual experience of playing guitar, supported by the classic strum and whammy bar.
Activision also admits that the new control scheme will make it harder for older Guitar Hero fans, who will have to reorient themselves, but again, this serves to provide a new challenge, and seems to be an inevitable necessity when they decided to make a more realistic guitar game.
Guitar Hero Live is coming Fall 2015 to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and select mobile devices, giving it the most platforms of any Guitar Hero game ever.
