Xenoblade Chronicles X Direct Reveals Power Of The Dolls, Outlines Network Features

April 10, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

The game comes with ranking boards, but remember that it is meant to be played cooperatively, online.

The latest Xenoblade Chronicles X Direct has been released, revealing new details about the game’s impressive mechs, the Dolls, as well as its networking features.

Translations come to us courtesy of Cheesemeister3K. You can watch the untranslated video above.

There are three types of dolls:

  • Light dolls have low HP but high evasion ability.
  • Middle dolls are balanced.
  • Heavy dolls have high HP and low agility.

Dolls have many different transformations, into motorcycles, cars, treaded vehicles, and even flying machines. You can customize dolls by changing their color schemes and giving them names. Dolls can also be customized by buying parts, but this can get expensive. Dolls also have their own weapons and arts.

Doll hand weapons are used in auto-attacks. Doll arm weapons include beam shields and Vulcans. Back weapons can be pulled up front and are powerful by design. Shoulder weapons are even more powerful. You can also get spare weapons, such as grenades.

Dolls need fuel, which can be replenished, but do so slowly. You need Doll fuel to use arts and stay mid-air. You can buy extra fuel in NLA.

You can catch enemies with your doll to keep them from moving and perform combos against them.  Enter cockpit mode to manage when arts are executed. Overclock Gear inside a doll come with different effects, such as suspending fuel use. Dolls can also help defend human characters so you can make the most of your party’s offensive abilities.

Dolls are also destructible so you need to be mindful when using them. When dolls are low on HP, they replenish HP when you dismount them. If you lose a part, like an arm, you can get Doll insurance, but it can only be redeemed three times before repairs become expensive.

Use the network features to form squads online and defend NLA. You can have as many as 32 members per squad, to share text Blade reports with each other and explore as efficiently as possible. You can join eight Unions. You can also participate in 4 player squad quests, and cooperative squad missions with varying player requirements.

World enemies are gigantic quests, that will allow you to fight together. Finally, there are ranking boards, but don’t forget that the game was designed to be coop.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will be released on the Wii U in 2015.
