Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Datamine Reveals Futuristic Setting, NNID Added To Website Profile Options

April 10, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Activision may not be done with bringing Call of Duty games to Nintendo platforms – including the Wii U.

A fan has datamined Activision’s website for information on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, as Activision makes an interesting addition to the franchise’s forums.

They found this description in the website, which we are sharing for you below.

Call of Duty®: Black Ops 3 is the first title for next-gen hardware in the critically acclaimed Black Ops series. Developed by Treyarch, the award-winning creator of the two most-played games in Call of Duty® history. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 deploys players into a dark, twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the technology we created to stay ahead, in a world where cutting-edge military robotics define warfare. With three unique game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies, providing fans with the deepest and most ambitious Call of Duty ever.

Obviously, the game is set far in the future, possibly even further than Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

We also have the alleged box art featured on top, showing a soldier squatting and with a gun on each hand. The Roman numeral III looms in the background.

In the meantime, it has come to light that Wii U and 3DS owners can now register their Nintendo Network ID, or NNID, on the Call of Duty website, to make an account on the website.

As you can see from this screenshot, the account manage page has been updated so that you can add in your accounts for Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, NNID, or Steam. Additional options are also there to add a Vita or iOS/Android account. Bear in mind that you can only register one of these accounts at a time, although of course they can be changed later.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare passed over the Wii U, but not Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 or Call of Duty: Ghosts. This change seems to indicate that Activision was sincere about wanting to continue to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo’s platforms. Perhaps this was also done for the fans who continued to play the earlier Call of Duty games that were released on Wii U. Perhaps Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be getting a port to Wii U, or Activision may be exploring giving the platform unique games. They might even be thinking of the 3DS.

Are you looking forward to a Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 set in the far future? Would you play it on your Wii U, or your 3DS? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
