Fallout 4: Bungie Systems Designer Moves To Bethesda

March 31, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

A designer like Josh Hamrick would be perfect to help finish development of a game like Fallout 4.

In the latest piece of news that may have bearing on Fallout 4, a dev has recently jumped ship from Bungie to Bethesda Game Studios.

Bungie senior gameplay designer Josh Hamrick announced his move between companies on Twitter. His exit from Bungie is amicable, and he is bringing six years from the developer with him to Bethesda.

Of course, Josh was a huge part of the development of Destiny, and prior to that worked on Halo Reach. The Full Sail University graduate had three years experience prior to Bungie, making him nearly a decade old veteran in the industry.

Now, this may interest you. Josh was known as one of the better Destiny players within the company. As one of his coworkers points out, this is partly because he designs the guns. Obviously, he  is as much a gamer as anyone, and brings that experience that helped refine Destiny’s core shooter mechanics to the studio that is making Fallout 4.

We don’t know for sure yet that Bethesda will finally be unveiling Fallout 4 at E3 this year, but it is a possibility that he was picked up to help finish up development of the game. Specifically, he would be well equipped to refine the game’s shooting system, ramping it up to the level of the genre’s best.
