Nexon Signs Unreal Engine 4 Deal With Epic Games For Upcoming Games

March 20, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Nexon’s upcoming games will utilize the Unreal Engine 4.

Nexon, the Korean developer responsible for MapleStory, Vindictus, and publisher of the upcoming Splash Damage-developed FPS Dirty Bomb as well as CliffyB's Project Bluestreak, has just announced a licensing agreement with Epic Games to use Unreal Engine 4 in the development of its next games.

Nexon has inked a long-term deal that will allow them to use Epic's latest technology and tools for upcoming PC and mobile projects.

“Unreal Engine 4 is the ultimate game engine in terms of high performance and flexibility,” said Sangwon Chung, vice president of NEXON Korea Corporation. “We couldn’t be happier to develop numerous projects on Unreal Engine 4 using our years of development expertise. We can’t wait for players to get their hands on the fantastic experiences we are creating right now.”

“With an incredibly successful track record, Nexon knows what it takes to make the best gaming experiences and bring them to players all over the world,” said Ray Park, territory manager of Epic Games Korea. “I’m especially excited to download one of the mobile games covered under this deal – an RPG based on a very high-profile IP. We’re giving our full support to Nexon’s developers to help them succeed and stand apart from the crowd.”

The news follows the announcement from Cliff Bleszinski's Boss Key Games that the fledgling studio will be using Unreal Engine 4 to power their new game, Project Bluestreak, which is published by Nexon America. Additional details around Nexon’s upcoming Unreal Engine 4 projects have yet to be announced.
