In a surprise announcement, Square Enix has revealed they will have a stream for Final Fantasy XI where they will announce what the game’s future will be.
Final Fantasy XI was originally released in 2002, and came out for Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. While initially hailed critically, Square Enix struggled to keep players active and playing, far, far earlier than World of Warcraft had to deal with the same problems.
It is safe to assume that Square Enix has renewed confidence and interest in Final Fantasy XI after they were able to successfully turn Final Fantasy XIV around with A Realm Reborn. If fans are lucky, Naoko Yoshida’s team may also be in charge of a revival.
