Nvidia Unveils Fastest Gaming GPU Yet, the Titan X

March 17, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

The Titan X is the most advanced graphics card designed for video games.

Nvidia has unveiled the 12GB GTX Titan X, the fastest graphics card on the market designed for video games, along with its specs and pricing details.

The GTX Titan X, which carries 12GB of video memory, will cost $999—the same price as its slower, older predecessor, when it launches on March 18, 2015. It still costs more than a GTX 980, which is priced at $549, but matches the launch price of the original Titan.

Nvidia revealed the key specifications about its flagship card. Most notably, it carries 12GB of VRAM and is equipped with a 384-bit memory interface, which shifts data 50 percent faster than the GTX 980 at 336.5GB/sec. It's also the first graphics card from Nvidia to ship with the GM200 core, which carries 8 billion transistors in a 28nm die.

Further specifications reveal that the GM200 consists of six Graphics Processing Clusters, each of which contains four Streaming Multiprocessors Units, with 128 cores in each SMM block. That adds up to 24 SMM Units, 3072 CUDA Cores, 192 Texture Mapping Units and 96 ROPs.

Nvidia recommends that gamers equip their systems with a 600W power supply to run the card.

Imagine playing Skyrim with this thing.
