Gearbox Details How To Use Cross-Save Ahead of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection Release

March 16, 2015 by Holly Green

Get the lowdown on how to transfer your files over on release day, plus find out what awesome loot you’ll get in the process.

The upcoming Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will include the fully remastered Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Presequel, complete with all DLC and add-on content, and a new couch co-op mode allowing for four-person split screen local multiplayer. With it will also come a cross-save feature that will allow old players to keep their save files from both games, provided that they are within the "same console family" (from PlayStation 3 to 4, and Xbox 360 to Xbox One).

Today on a new post on the community blog, new details were given on how the system will work, with step by step instructions explaining the process. Users will need to first download a patch and then upload the save from the cloud. Once transferred, they will then be able to access all characters at their current level and missions, all Badass points for respending, their backpack inventory and weapon slots, all their cash and Eridium and items stored in Sanctuary, and all their unlocked character skins and heads. 75 Golden Keys will also be provided as well as a "healthy chunk of Badass rank" and bonus character customizations. The Pre-Sequel will also come with bonus unique weapons.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on March 24 in North America and March 27 worldwide.
