Officially announced at E3 2021, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has been a hot-button topic with video game and comic fans for the last few months. Developed by Eidos-Montreal and published by Square Enix, the game is less than two weeks away, coming to PC and consoles on October 26, 2021. Two weeks ahead of its release, whoever is running the official Eidos-Montreal YouTube channel clearly can’t contain themselves, and has just uploaded the game’s launch trailer. While not containing completely new footage, there are glimpses of a few things we haven’t seen before, including a glimpse of what looks to be Adam Warlock. This wouldn’t be too surprising, as the Universal Church of Truth has already been revealed to a major antagonist in the new title.
Mary DeMarie, Senior Narrative Director for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, previously spoke to ComicBook.com about the game’s lore. “We certainly did our homework, and we certainly immersed ourselves in the lore of the comics, and we read tons of stuff and everything. And then we created our own universe, our own story within our universe, and so then we had to start filling it up with stuff. So sometimes we fill it up with Easter eggs like the Dazzler poster, and sometimes we put a little more significance into it.” Upon the title’s release, it will be interesting to see just how efficiently the developers jam-packed the world with Marvel shoutouts.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on October 26, 2021, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. The Cloud Version of the game will also be available on the Nintendo Switch in select regions on launch day. Preorders are now open, and doing so will net players an outfit pack filled with throwback outfits for the Guardians.
