The Division: Ubisoft Confirms Leaked Footage Is Real, Does Not Reflect Final Product

March 4, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

The footage is deliberately low resolution because this build is being used by the development team to improve the server architecture.

Ubisoft has confirmed leaks of a pre alpha build ofTom Clancy’s The Division, running on Xbox One.

While confirming that it is a leak of the game, Ubisoft has also made clear that they are working on improving the game’s quality. In fact, the leaked footage is deliberately low resolution because this build is being used by the development team to improve the server architecture. As a result, a big number of the game’s features have been disabled. In so many words, the leak does not reflect the final quality of the game.

For those wondering, the leaked footage shows the same part of the city covered in snow that we have seen in previews, only a different location. It also shows a combat roll mechanic in action.

Ubisoft must be treading lightly, as they are careful to manage expectations from gamers. At the same time, they want to make a show of being serious about valuing quality control for their game.
