Batman Arkham Knight Gotham is Mine Trailer Breakdown – Enemies, the Batmobile, & More

March 2, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

There is one frame of interest from the trailer, which makes huge implications on the scope of the last levels.

We have a new video from CabooseXBL, breaking down the new Gotham is Mine trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight. This time, it's all about the villains. You can subscribe to CabooseXBL on YouTube here.

At the top, we see Harley Quinn, with her custom LMG and her own thugs. And then, in quick succession, we get glimpses of mainstays in Bruce's rogues gallery, Two-Face, Penguin, The Riddler, ending with The Scarecrow and Arkham Knight. Based on their body language, Scarecrow seems to be the man calling all the shots.

And then, after what is a long period in storyline terms, we see a returning Firefly, wearing a not-too-modified costume from his first appearance in Arkham Origins. As with other Batman villains, Rocksteady kept enough elements to keep him recognizable.

And now, we see Poison Ivy talking to Bruce, and feeding him information on the cabal out to get him. She is very clearly back to more human skin, and wearing a bodysuit. Poison Ivy is just as much a victim of other villains as she is one herself in the Arkham games, but whether she has turned informant for Batman, or is planning a triple cross of her own, we will have to wait and see.

After the logos flash by, we see another wide overhead shot of Gotham. It seems that the speech from that E3 trailer is extended here, and Scarecrow actually delivers it via Gotham's public screens.

As the camera pans to the ground, we see more villains. Now, we get a closer look at Quinn's thugs, (possibly dubbed the Jokers?), also using gatling guns.

We also get a brief glimpse of Scarecrow's thugs setting explosives, apparently to free Two-Face from prison. Another shot shows Oswald Cobblepot walking back and forth and slamming a desk, maybe not happy about his end of the deal?

We get another pan towards the GCPD, with Jim Gordon flanked by Aaron Cash and an unnamed lady cop, but is possibly the Arkham debut of Renee Montoya. Gordon looks older than previous depictions, and noticeably tired.

The next shot seems to clue us in on the level of violence the game has, as a group of thugs beat on a cop. A scene like this is more typical of an issue of Judge Dredd, although of course there are no lack of Batman comics storylines that go there. Of course, this hints at the game's R rating.

Finally, we get to see a lot of gameplay. We also see the Batmobile demonstrating the taser like shockwaves that takes out thugs, keeping you from running anyone over.

There is one frame of interest from the trailer which we're using as our cover image, and you can see here. In this shot of Bruce jumping down from a building, you can see some buildings in the distance with bright red lights.

These seem to be the heavily guarded areas that Bruce can't easily enter. He will either have to make himself scarce or move quickly in these areas, or plan to take everyone in it out.

That place in the distance appears to be 1/4 of all of Gotham, so you can imagine quite a fight waiting for you at the end.

Batman: Arkham Knight is coming to Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on June 2, 2015.
