Final Fantasy 15 Will Have Shocking, Even Brutal Content

February 25, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Tabata cites his prior work in Crisis Core as rationale for this choice.

Hajiime Tabata shared an interesting comment about Final Fantasy 15.

Tabata mentioned that they have added shocking, even brutal moments into the game’s main story mode. He said this was something he felt they had to add in after he worked on Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7.

Spoilers follow below.

The shocking scenes in Crisis Core relate to the origins of Sephiroth, Cloud, and Zack. Cloud and Zack were subjects of experiments by a Professor Hojo. Sephiroth, Hojo’s biological son, is himself also an experiment. The backdrop to this involves many deaths, including the deaths of Angeal and his clones, and the end of Zack himself.

If Tabata says that Final Fantasy 15 will be shocking, even brutal, than we can expect some really heavy story coming up in the game.

On the side, Tabata thought of ways to control the violence in the game’s content. They were considering adding a menu where players could literally adjust the blood count. They also thought of using DLC to adapt the game’s rating, the same way as The Evil Within.

Given the choice, do you think the Final Fantasy team should keep the game’s violent content, or add limiters like the blood count menu, or employ a completely different solution? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.Final Fantasy 15 is in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
