Nordic Games Rereleasing Several THQ Games, Including Darksiders 2 For PS4

February 16, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Nordic seems ready to bring back THQ’s catalogue in a huge way.

Nordic Games has confirmed releases of several special editions of games for next gen consoles with new Amazon listings, all but one of which were acquired from THQ.

Front and center among these is Darksiders 2: Definitive Edition, coming to PlayStation 4. Darksiders 2 was one of THQ’s last major releases, making it one of the most prized IP’s at the time of the publisher’s bankruptcy. The game originally came out on Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U, making this the game’s 2nd eight generation console release. It remains to be seen if releases to Xbox One and SteamOS, not to mention a Windows release of this upgrade, are forthcoming.

Also revealed is The Legend of Kay HD, coming to Windows, Mac OS, Wii U, and PlayStation 4. This game was originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2005, and a Nintendo DS version also came out in 2010. The game itself isn’t as noteworthy as the fact that Nordic isn’t passing over platforms like Wii U and Mac OS.

Also planned for the PlayStation 4 are MX vs ATV: Supercross Encore Edition and Arcania: The Complete Tale.

The sole non THQ game is The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, developed by King Art and passing through several publishers prior to this release.

Aside from having several games to look forward to, Nordic seems ready to bring back THQ’s catalogue in a huge way. They spoke candidly about being a publisher, and not a developer, but hoping to make a new Darksiders game. They also actually acquired the THQ name, although it does not seem like they’re using it now.

What THQ IPs would you like to see Nordic bring back next? What games would you like to see get a Remastered Edition, or a new sequel, aside from Darksiders? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
