Dying Light Patch 1.4.0, Removes Duplication Exploit But Enables Mods

February 15, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Players with mods can only play with other players who also modded their game.

Dying Light Patch 1.4.0 has gone live. This patch enables mods, but with some odd conditions.

If you are playing the game online, and you have modded the game, you will not be able to connect with vanilla players, AKA, players without mods. You can only play your modded game online with other players with modded games.

Also removed is the weapon duplication exploit. No word here whether Techland will punish cheaters, but if you hadn't tried it even once, you may be happy to know it's a level playing ground now, at least if you're playing the vanilla version.

Some other issues fans are happy were resolved involved low resolution textures, and the option to disable the film grain effect. The common sentiment seems to be that Techland has listened to fans' feedback from Dead Island, not only in terms of the content, but also small issues, such as graphics. These issues certainly don't affect gameplay, but they often act as tiny irritants for fans. From this point of view, seeing Techland fix these issues is tantamount to the game being made perfect.

Among other changes and fixes Techland has made for the game include:

  • Considerable reductions in RAM usage
  • Video memory optimization
  • Fixed Be-the-Zombie mode infinite spit exploit
  • Fixed issues with playing as the zombie and failing to connect online
  • Reduced long load times
  • Fixed Personal Statistics menu issues
  • Fixed issues with keys assigned to gameplay when being used in chat
  • Linux specific optimizations
  • Fixed issues blocking specific achivement unlocks
  • Fixed issues with ammo disappearing from inventory
