Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Gets Amiibo Support Today

February 10, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Ahead of the New 3DS release, Nintendo has put out a patch to offer Amiibo support for the game.

Nintendo has put out a new patch for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS that adds Amiibo support to the title.

The patch is out ahead of the release of the new Amiibo-compatible New 3DS and New 3DS XL units that are slated to hit the stores this week.

With the new 3DS or 3DS XL, you’ll be able to scan in and level up your Amiibo figurine, just as you can on the Wii U version of the game.

The new patch for the 3DS version also adds a new Share mode, which allows users to upload up to three custom items to the cloud to share with friends, such as screenshots, match replays, and customized Mii Fighter characters. It’s not as versatile as what other games offer, but it’s better than nothing.

The patch brings the game up to version 1.05 and is available for downlaod now.
