BioWare is Working on Two New IPs, No New Dragon Age in 2015

February 9, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

BioWare is currently developing two new intellectual properties.

Speaking at the 2015 Technology, Internet & Media Conference, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed that the makers of Mass Effect and Dragon Age are working on two new intellectual properties.

Given that the studio just now announced the cancelation of Shadow Realms, it would be safe to say that the two new IPs they’re working on are completely different from games they’ve already announced, which includes the next Mass Effect.

While at the event, Jorgensen also disclosed that the studio will not be releasing a new Dragon Age title in 2015. It’s unsurprising given how Dragon Age: Inquisition was only released a few months ago in November—a game of that scope and scale would require much longer than a year to develop regardless of whether they have a base to develop build the next game on.

Jorgensen said that the publisher is very excited about the future of the Dragon Age franchise due to the success of Inquisition.

"Longer-term, we're very excited," Jorgensen said (via GameSpot) "BioWare, they just won Game of the Year at the DICE Awards. We're very excited about the success of that team and what we can do with that team. I think there's a huge opportunity for [Dragon Age].”

He did not make any mention of whether Dragon Age: Inquisition would see the release of expansion packs or DLC, but given EA’s track record, there’s a good chance that something of the sort is in development.
