During this month's Nintendo Direct, the Kyoto company announced a fresh line of amiibo based on the Super Mario series. These serve an identical function to their Smash counterparts, only they have new poses. There is Mario, of course, as well as Luigi, Peach, Bowser, and Yoshi. We will also be getting the first amiibo figurine of Toad, who can be used in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker to make a hidden "pixel Toad" appear in levels for you to locate.
The links I've provided above will take you to the figures' respective Amazon pre-order pages, which just opened up recently. Sadly — though not surprisingly — some are already unavailable, namely Toad and Bowser. But wait, what about Mario? You see, for the time being, the Mario amiibo will only be obtainable via a special Mario Party 10 bundle which, you guessed it, is also not currently available. The amiibo hunt never ends.
Mario Party 10 releases for Wii U on March 20, and since all the new amiibo are compatible with that game, it's likely they'll be in stores around then as well. Or, you know, Nintendo could do another one of its staggered launches and not warn anyone, since that has worked so well in the past.
