Blizzard Details How You Can Enter the 2015 Hearthstone World Championship

January 16, 2015 by Stephen Daly

You can start earning points beginning this month.

Blizzard has outlined how Hearthstone players can enter the World Championships this year over on Battle.net.

Beginning this month, players will be able to collect points for each match played and potentially earn a spot in the 2015 championship. Community Manager Zeriyah has confirmed that points can be acquired through Ranked Play, Fireside Gatherings, and tournaments.

During the next few weeks, you'll be able to acquire "qualifier points" which are awarded based on your performance, with stronger results yielding more points. To begin, choose Fireside Gathering events hosting officially-authorised Hearthstone tournaments. The winner of each tournament will then be entered into the Fireside Gathering Championship. Those who emerge victorious from this round are guaranteed a place in their Regional Qualifier.

However, all players who receive at least two points by the end of July will be eligible for regional Last Call tournaments, which are followed by the Regional Qualifiers.

"The 23 players per region with the highest point totals will receive advanced seeding in their Regional Qualifier and do not need to play in the Last Call Tournament in order to qualify," Zeriyah writes.

Hearthstone's Regional Qualifiers will take place in the autumn, just prior to the Regional Championships and players from North America, Latin America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, China, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan will be included. Every region will host a-player double-elimination tournament, and the top eight players from these will be given a spot at the Regional Championships.

The Championships will feature the eight players from each region who'll battle it out for for spots at the Hearthstone World Championship, with 16 players then attending the Hearthstone World Championship.

Currently, there's no confirmed date for the World Championship but it will likely take place in the autumn.
