Nintendo doesn't air the same Nintendo Direct in all regions. Each stream is tailored for a specific audience, so while some announcements will be similar, others will be exclusive. One such exclusive announcement is that Japan will be getting a new installment in the Rhythm Heaven series for 3DS.
Rhythm Heaven has had three previous entries: one for Game Boy Advance just in Japan, and one each for DS and Wii worldwide. If you haven't played any of them, they are a series of humorous and bizarre minigames in which you must tap buttons (or the touch screen) in time with the rhythm. Sort of like a musical WarioWare: very basic, but unbelievably fun and engaging.
The newest Rhythm Heaven is a compilation of 70 minigames from throughout the series' history plus 30 brand-new ones, and it will arrive in Japan this year. No word yet on a Western release, but hopefully it arrives just as the previous two did.
